How instant coffee became delicious.

It all started in the beautiful city of Copenhagen, Denmark, where our two founders, Luis and Edgar, met during their studies. It didn't take long for their enthusiastic exchange about study subjects, world travels, and life stories to be overshadowed by one topic - the unenjoyable coffee at their university. Spoiled by the specialty coffee roasters in the city, their disappointment with the bad coffee at the university grew and the situation became clearer to them. There are still too many places where one must settle for bad coffee, such as in offices, while traveling, and in Luis and Edgar's hobbies: hiking, cycling, camping, and sailing. Inspired by the disappointment that one experiences when sipping on mediocre, often poorly brewed and simply bad coffee, it was immediately clear - there was an urgent need for delicious coffee that could be prepared easily and anywhere, without much effort or equipment.

As demanding connoisseurs with drive and entrepreneurial spirit, the two set out to research. After many barista forums, excel tables, scientific studies, and method books, the niche was discovered: instant coffee that tastes good! Easily prepared and inspired by the classic minimalist lifestyle of Scandinavia.

As a warm reminder of the history of the brand, the name BLÆK lovingly features the Danish letter Æ. The idea of providing coffee of barista quality on the go, sustainably, and without much equipment quickly found acceptance. Around this vision, a coffee-enthusiastic team formed.

In 2019 it was finally time: BLÆK was founded in Hamburg. Since then it has been successful in the form of recognition from environmentally conscious, authentic and actively living coffee fans.

Now, three years later, we are moving forward confidently and revolutionizing the instant coffee market. We are conquering new areas and building new partnerships, investing in innovations, and supporting local doers and makers with a bold energy boost.
